The death of Chilean poet Pablo Neruda is being investigated again to determine whether he was poisoned.
Officials are reopening the inquiry after previous tests on the Nobel laureate's body, which was exhumed for a second time in 2013, found no evidence of foul play.
He died 12 days after the 1973 military coup that led to the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet, and less than a day before he was due to go into exile. He was 69.
Although best known for his poetry, he was also a prominent Communist party member and a supporter of the deposed President Salvador Allende.
Some people also believed that he would have gone on to become an opposition leader.
Neruda's death was initially attributed to prostate cancer, but his driver, Manuel Araya, suspected that he may have been poisoned after he reported feeling sick following a hospital injection.
Confirming the fresh investigation, the head of the government's human rights department, Francisco Ugas, said further tests for a wider range of chemicals will now be carried out.
"There is initial evidence that he was poisoned," he said.
"These signs also point to the intervention of specific agents, therefore there are indications that this would constitute or could constitute a crime against humanity."
A panel of forensic experts from Spain and Chile are carrying out the new tests, which have been welcomed by the poet's family.
His cousin, Rodolfo Reyes, said: "It's a need not only for the family, but also for Chile and the world to know the real causes of death of Pablo Neruda."
