James Corden has told Sky News he is "terrified beyond belief" of making his debut as host of the US chat show The Late Late Show.

Speaking at a gala screening of his new film, the musical Into The Woods, the actor joked that presenting the daily programme was "going to be a disaster".

The Gavin And Stacey star will take over from comedian Craig Ferguson to present the CBS show in March.

Ahead of his new role he has been awarded an OBE in the Queen's New Year's Honours list for services to Drama.

"I feel very proud to be recognised in such a way but I'm not stupid enough to think for a second that I deserve it and I'm well aware that there are people who deserve it a lot more than I do," he said.

Corden plays the male lead in Disney's adaptation of Broadway musical alongside Emily Blunt and Meryl Streep, who are both nominated for Golden Globe awards for their performances.

On attending the ceremony with her 29th nomination, Streep said: "For me they're important in that now I'm so old I've worked with everyone in the room, so it's like a reunion without being a funeral."

The Golden Globes will be held on Sunday 11 January.
